The Use of Control Cans in Ignitable Liquid Analysis - Roanoke, VA 11/13/2024

This is a two-hour course designed to provide an understanding of the use of control cans in ignitable liquid analyses. This course will cover what a control can is, how to properly select a control can, labeling and submission of control cans, how to identify differences in control cans, and the value of the control can policy. This course is designed for fire investigators, police officers, detectives and Commonwealth Attorneys who are involved with the investigation of arson and offenses involving ignitable liquids.
This course will be limited to 30 students and is restricted to personnel from Virginia law enforcement agencies. Students should bring, if possible, one (1) metal evidence can to class.
